Kallista Primary School receives $75,000 grant.

We have been successful in receiving a federal government stimulus package grant from the “Building the Education Revolution”- National School’s Pride program.

This will assist us to build our new children and community kitchen for our kitchen garden program. This money will be used on the building and the money we have raised through donations from the school and broader community will go towards fitting the building out.
The kitchen which is 8.5 m x 21 m will be built beside the kitchen garden above the GP room towards the road. It will also have a 3 m wide verandah area which can be used by the garden classes. The kitchen will be available for community use.
Over the past two years we have tried many ways to get our new kitchen including buying kit sheds, old school portable buildings, relocating parts of closed schools and extending our current canteen/kitchen. We have applied for community grants without success before deciding to build as far as we could with community donations. Thanks to the many parents who have made donations towards this project and are making this possible. Any donation over $2 made to the school building fund are tax deductable.
We are very appreciative of local architects, Belgraphik Building Design, who have drawn all the plans in conjunction with the structural engineer and building permit company. The plans also include all internal layouts and colour schemes. Belgraphik donated their time and skills to us to support a local community project. This is truely appreciated.
We are now finalising quotes with builders and are keen to “turn the first sod”.
